Owner/Travel Expert

Carol James began her career as a travel consultant and advisor over 40 years ago, helping to make her client’s travel dreams come true. Carol is a trusted and respected professional who has been blessed to travel extensively throughout the world, visiting more than 90 countries.  She has traveled to many countries and sailed many seas.

Carol first got the “travel bug” when she was only seven years old, when she would go on family vacations with her aunt, uncle, and cousins. Carol states that travel has “broadened her horizons and has helped her to develop a thankful, happy, and positive attitude towards life.”


Carol embarked on a full-time career in the travel industry to help others have the opportunity to see the world. She began her travel career working as an independent representative for a small travel agency, and because of her quick success, was soon swept away and offered the position of General Manager for another, larger travel agency.


In 2000, she started her own travel agency, Carol James Travel, LLC founded on the philosophy and pledge to offer clients the "greatest service possible" with a "personal touch" “to help make their travel dreams come true!”


Carol has personally traveled to more than 40 countries, and has arranged travel for her clients to almost as many. She and her team seek to offer the most cost-effective travel options, worldwide travel expertise and extraordinary service. They will make your trip a pleasurable and unforgettable experience! You will receive the highest level of service, professionalism, and value.


Carol specializes in travel for clients with disabilities and has won several travel related awards:

  • Received awards from the State of NJ Department of Community Affairs, NJ Commissions on Recreation/Travel for Individual with Disabilities.
  • Awarded the “Alvin Slootsky Exemplary” award for enhancing the lives of people with disabilities through travel.

Carol holds educational degrees in Business Administration and Organizational Management. She is a graduate of Berkeley College, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Nyack College. She has been active in many professional and charitable organizations, and makes major efforts to always give back to others and to share her many blessings.

Terri J. Fowlkes

Vice President

Terri J. Fowlkes is a results-oriented professional and a leader with extensive knowledge and experience working in the financial services industry. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in business administration from New York University’s Stern School of Business.


Terri loves to travel and has traveled extensively throughout the world. She is knowledgeable about the travel industry as she shares confidently her know-hows about traveling through photography and by giving personal recommendations.  Aside from being a travel consultant, she also serves in several non-profit boards and works as a university adjunct professor.

Donna Fowlkes

Finance Manager​ 

Donna Fowlkes is Finance Manager of Carol James Travel, LLC. She holds a B.S. in Accounting from New York University and an MBA in Finance from Case Western Reserve University; she is also a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP). Donna is well travelled and assists with the financial and administration functions of Carol James Travel, LLC.

Synita Butler-Hatcher

Travel Consultant

Synita Butler-Hatcher believes that "There must be something worth caring about-something remarkable, special and precious enough to light the fire in your heart," (Price Pritchett). Family, Philanthropy, Gratitude, Benevolence and Travel are the things that "Light it up " for Synita.

In addition to a career as a Travel Consultant, Synita’s background is as healthcare professional with extensive experience in patient care and sales. She enjoys fishing, interior design and helping others “light up” as she assists them with planning their dream vacations and get-a-ways.
